Medical Diagnostic Laboratories, L.L.C. (MDL) is a CLIA certified clinical laboratory with multiple state licensing, specializing in state of the art, automated DNA based molecular analysis of a variety of chronic and infectious illnesses. MDL specializes and performs Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) with a larger menu of testing available in the field of infectious disease. Our main theme of research is in the field of Gynecology, Infectious Diseases, Infectious Arthritis, Tick-borne Diseases, Mycology, and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS).

MDL has multiple openings for Medical Billers, Insurance Eligibility Specialist  & Clerical Support at our corporate office in Hamilton, NJ.

 

Medical Biller:

JOB SUMMARY:

Coordinate timely and accurate requisition entry into the billing system which includes: patient demographics, insurance information, charge entry and diagnosis coding.

 

FUNCTIONS:

1.  Enter billing information into computer.

2.  Check bills for accuracy.

3.  Review pre-billing reports prior to claim submission.

3.  Prepare and transmit claims to primary insurance carriers which include Medicaid.

4.  Print paper claims for those that can not go electronically.

5.  Review Transmittal reports for errors.

6.  Follow up on unpaid claims.

7.  Print and review practice management reports.

 

Insurance Eligibility Specialist:

JOB SUMMARY:

On a day to day basis, this person will be responsible for verifying primary and secondary insurance coverage for patients. This individual will also be in charge of contacting physicians and other healthcare providers to obtain necessary information to complete insurance verifications.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Calls insurance company to check patient eligibility to aid in billing process.

2. Conduct research over the phone or via the internet for eligibility purposes.

2. Obtain pre-authorizations when necessary.

3. Maintains and update knowledge of participating insurance carriers

4. Determine correct insurance mailing addresses for non electronic carriers.

5. Maintain the Medicaid pending file.

6. Maintain a daily insurance eligibility log.

7. Handle W-9 and medical records request.

8. Research and resolve insurance overpayment request (monthly)

9. Research and process forms for refund request.

9. Assist with fax cover sheets and billing holds as needed.

 

Skills and Knowledge for both Billers and Eligibility Specialist

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1.       Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.

2.      Good oral and written communication skills.

3.      Ability to deal professionally, courteously, and effectively with the public.

4.     Knowledge of confidentiality requirements regarding patients.

5.      Knowledge of medical terminology.

6.     Data entry skills.

7.   Typing skills of 45wpm min.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

1.       High school graduate.

2.      Good analytical, organizational and problem solving skills.

 

Clerical Support:

Individuals will work in three main areas: 

Incoming mail:

Open and process all incoming mail for the department

Copy checks, sort and process Patient billing and insurance forms

Batch checks for accounting

Daily scanning of insurance forms that were received

 

Filing:

            Separate requisitions by number and placed in proper file containers

 

Requisition Requests:

Fulfill requisition requests by receiving order, finding the requisition, log it out and deliver to the requesting party

           

Requirements
H.S. graduate or equivalent

Prior office environment experience required

Knowledge and experience with photocopier, scanner and PC required

Ability to handle large volume of filing and photocopying
Must be detail and multi-task oriented

Must possess excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
